She is a much more active toddler than Sarah was (and gets into more trouble) and we constantly are chasing her! Still she is just the most cuddly and sweet little girl. Here's a couple of photos from her 18 month photo shoot. Last year for my birthday I got a background stand and paper. I'd set everything up in the family room on a nice sunny day with natural light. Of course that involved me moving all the furniture and a ton of setup and clean up. And living in NY there isn't that many sunny days! So, I now I have a studio in our basement! I'm very excited. I started simple with one light and a big reflector. Here are the results:

I still have a lot to work on as far as positioning the lights. So now I'm looking for some kids to practice on. :)

Apple Picking - Round 1

Fall is definitely my favorite season. We love going apple picking (Sarah says it is her favorite) and we usually go a few times each season. We went for the first time on Saturday. Both of the girls loved it. Sarah had to have her own bag and did her own picking. Hailey loved touching the apples. We managed to finish right before it started pouring. We picked Cortland and Macintosh. They are a bit bitter, so I'm going to have to do a bunch of baking.

<img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3148/2857819373_0d982aa990.jpg" width="333"
height="500" alt="Sharing...for once :)" / />

First day of preschool

Today is Sarah's first day of preschool. Of course I'm nervous, but Sarah was SO excited! She woke up this morning and was just singing about going to school. The morning went so much smoother than a normal morning. She got dressed and ate her breakfast and then put on her kitty backpack. We went to drop her off and she wasn't sad at all. She walked right in and immediately started playing with a baby doll. When we left we gave her a hug and kiss and she just said "bye" (no tears, no "Please don't leave me"). I can't wait to hear what she did all morning long. I'm sad though because this is the beginning of my little girl growing up.

Here is Sarah spinning around because she was so excited.

Sarah and her good friend Jena

Hailey is 1!

Getting pictures of Hailey sitting still and looking at me is nearly impossible! She has been such a stubborn one and refuses to take the bottle. She just chews on the nipple and will not suck. So, we decided to skip the bottle and go straight to the sippy cup. Today she took 1 ounce from the sippy cup, which is big for her! It will make it easier for me to leave her if she is taking her milk.

I also have decided to make my own homemade baby food this time around (thanks Anna). It is really quite easy and fun to do. So far I've made applesauce and pears. Hailey has only had the apples up until today and really hasn't liked them. She usually makes the funniest face and then gags on them. Today I made her pears and when I gave them to her she actually didn't make a face and at some! So, today has been a good now. Our next big task is to get her to sleep in her crib. We had no trouble at all with Sarah, but Hailey has been a stubborn baby. I am going to go out and pick up a copy of Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. It is supposed to work. I'm not looking forward to hearing her cry it out.

Hailey's baptism

Yesterday we had Hailey baptized at our church. It went really well! We first went to mass, which Hailey slept through. Now, we haven't been to church in awhile, so before going we told Sarah that we had to be quiet and whisper. Throughout the service she kept forgetting and would blurt something out once in awhile. She said 'Daddy sing'. She also was trying to sing along with everyone, which was cute. I think that she ate four different snacks too. I bet that people though that we don't feed our daughter! Hailey's baptism went very well. She didn't cry once, even when the water was poured over her head. Deacon Tom did something really neat - he had the Grandparents and Great Grandmother pour water over Hailey's head. Sarah even got to do it and she thought that was pretty neat. Sarah couldn't wait to get home to have cake!

Hailey wore the same baptism gown that Sarah did:

Sarah loved pouring the water over Hailey's head and a family shot (sorry Bill, your eyes are closed!)

My first blog!

I have decided to give the world of blogging a try. I love reading other people's blogs, so I thought it would be neat to make one for our family. I try to write a lot in my journal about what we do, but get busy sometimes. We have a new lap top, so this will make it much easier for me to write posts.

I'm just trying a picture!
